Stony Smith the Paratrooper

Marx Stock Number: 2054

Paratrooper Boxed Accessory Set (No Figure)

Marx Stock Number: 2047

Basically this version of Stony is the same as the Battling soldier with the exception of the parachute pack and poncho being added. This packaging is also less common than the battling soldier set. I am not sure if one or both versions of the Stony figure molds were used in the paratrooper sets. My guess is a “Blend” of both based on production date. Another Paratrooper set sold was strictly an accessory set. It contained no figure and had HTF Packaging. I see 10 Battling Soldier versions compared to the Paratrooper or Sky Commando boxed sets.

Stony Smith the Sky Commando

Marx Stock Number: 2052

This version of Stony added full articulation to the legs and arms. The body mold was changed from earlier production versions of Stony and as a result is slightly taller when compared. He too is molded in the dark olive green color. The Sky Commando box packaging as well as tent and camping gear is on the HTF side. In many cases the HP pieces to the cot and tent are broken. Stony moved to grip style hands on all of the full-articulated versions I have seen.

Stony Smith Footlocker

Marx Stock Number: N/A

The Stony Footlocker was mainly a mail order item sold through Wards, Sears etc. and was made out of cardboard. It came with a complete set of Stony battling soldier military gear and no figure. Many found today are loose in fair condition. Metal footlockers were also produced by another vendor for Marx. The metal one I am told is grey colored. It is unknown to me what if anything came with it. I will show a Chief Cherokee version of this box.
